Hogan 360 Research
Peter Berry Consultancy (PBC) and Hogan Assessment Systems have developed and validated the Hogan 360 leadership model through a series of systematic, evidence-based studies since the early 1990s. The model draws on established frameworks such as the Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence and the Balanced Scorecard, and is informed by analysis of thousands of employee opinion surveys and over 87,000 open-text responses from feedback initiatives. In partnership with Dr. Robert Hogan, PBC has identified key behavioural and business competencies that distinguish high-performing leaders.
PBC’s technical team has published detailed validation studies, including principal component analyses of data from more than 40,000 raters and internal consistency metrics (Cronbach’s alpha) exceeding .80 for all subscales. Empirical validation includes correlations with external manager ratings and construct validity demonstrated through matched samples of approximately 2,500 leaders, linking the 360 with Hogan’s personality assessments. All research, benchmarking, and updates are conducted in-house and shared with clients. According to PBC, this makes the Hogan 360 one of the most scientifically robust leadership assessments available today.
