Our Approach

APS executive coaching is designed to deliver clear objectives that are closely aligned with your organisation’s business needs, ensuring every engagement supports strategic priorities and talent development goals. Confidentiality is paramount, with all coaching conversations remaining private between coach and coachee, while sponsors receive appropriate high-level updates on progress and outcomes. Pricing is fully transparent, with detailed costings and discounts for larger packages provided up front to support procurement processes and budget planning. Regular reporting is built into the process, offering evidence of value and impact through engagement summaries and, where appropriate, data from assessments or SkillsPilot simulations. Delivery is highly flexible, with options for virtual or face-to-face sessions, and the ability to integrate coaching into wider blended learning programmes. All coaching is delivered by highly qualified, experienced professionals with deep business insight, and every aspect of the service is delivered in strict compliance with APS’s professional and brand standards, ensuring quality, consistency, and alignment with your organisation’s values.

Customisation:

A coach may draw on a range of surveys, assessments, and feedback tools as appropriate to support your development if such options are included. For example, tools such as Reflections 360, Business Emotional Intelligence 360, Hogan 360, and the Hogan suite (HPI, HDS, MVPI) can help you understand your strengths, spot areas for growth, and see how others experience your behaviours. For senior leaders in transition, the Leadership Versatility Index (LVI) can be especially useful, as it highlights how well you balance key leadership behaviours and pinpoints shifts that can unlock faster execution and stronger alignment. This evidence-based approach increases self-awareness, builds confidence, and helps you focus on the skills that matter most for your goals, supporting better communication, relationships, and career planning.

As part of your coaching support, your coach may optionally suggest you experience a simulated one-to-one session through the APS SkillsPilot system. This gives you the opportunity to practise relevant skills or approaches that support your goals, and to receive explicit feedback on what went well and what could be honed further.

Implementation

Discovery:

Before the first session, the coach reviews all relevant background information, such as psychometric assessments (including Hogan or 360 feedback) and any previous development plans.

Leaders are encouraged to reflect on recent experiences, challenges, or goals they wish to discuss, ensuring the coaching is tailored to their current context and needs. Transparent pricing and session format are agreed in advance, supporting procurement and planning.

Coaching Sessions:

Each session begins with a warm welcome and a brief check-in, followed by clarifying objectives, agreeing on confidentiality, and setting expectations.

The leader identifies key topics or challenges to explore—ranging from business issues to personal development goals.

The coach uses open questions, feedback, and evidence-based techniques to help the leader gain new perspectives and insights, identify patterns or barriers, and develop actionable plans.

Sessions may incorporate feedback from assessments, real business scenarios, or simulated exercises using SkillsPilot, APS’s online development platform. Coaching can be delivered as a stand-alone intervention or integrated into a broader blended learning programme, with sessions typically lasting 90 minutes and available virtually or face-to-face.

Evaluation:

After each session, the coach may provide a brief summary or relevant resources. Progress is reviewed in subsequent sessions, with adjustments made as needed to support ongoing development. The process is designed to ensure continuous alignment with business objectives and personal growth, with flexibility to adapt tools and approaches as required.

Collective Coachee Experience with APS

Coachees working with APS consistently report a positive and impactful experience. As a group, they benefit from a consultative and co-creative approach, where each individual’s context and development needs are carefully considered. The use of tailored programmes—often incorporating tools like Hogan assessments and Reflections 360—enables coachees to gain deep personal insight, practical feedback, and clear, actionable next steps. Many highlight the value of confidential, one-to-one sessions and team workshops, which foster greater self-awareness, improved collaboration, and a shift towards more strategic, cross-functional dialogue. The practical nature of APS’s interventions means coachees see tangible improvements in both their individual growth and team effectiveness, with feedback frequently describing the process as supportive, insightful, and directly relevant to real business challenges.

Sponsor Experience and Benefits

Sponsors involved in APS coaching programmes experience a strong partnership with trusted advisors who understand both organisational context and individual development. They receive regular, high-level updates on engagement and progress, ensuring alignment with business objectives while maintaining confidentiality for coachees. Sponsors observe clear improvements in leadership behaviours, enhanced collaboration across teams, and a more robust leadership pipeline. The consultative nature of APS’s approach means sponsors are actively involved in shaping programmes and can see the practical value and return on investment through measurable outcomes and positive participant feedback.
