One platform - multiple applications:

Assess Talent

SkillsPilot can be used to run virtual or hybrid assessment and development centres

  • Pick key skills and competencies to measure, and gather feedback on.

  • Run virtual interactive events that provide opportunities to demonstrate skills and competencies.

  • Provide feedback from professional observers on demonstrated skills and behaviours.

Develop Skills

Skills Library

SkillsPilot is a valuable tool for supporting both talent assessment and development. Organisations frequently use its comprehensive skills library to create targeted profiles that reflect their own in-house skills and behaviours, ensuring alignment with what’s needed for success in specific roles and across the organisation. The skills assessed through SkillsPilot are typically those most valued by employers, helping to focus development on the areas that matter most.

APS consultants work closely with clients to identify priority skill areas. This can be based on existing competency frameworks, organisational values, or tailored to address specific challenges faced by teams or individuals. Skills to focus on are collaboratively decided to ensure high relevance for participants.

Use Custom Skills Profiles

SkillsPilot provides a practical opportunity for individuals to showcase their skills as part of an assessment or development process. Through the platform, participants can reflect on their experiences, describe how they have applied specific skills in real workplace situations, and receive feedback on their strengths and areas for growth.

Events

SkillsPilot is designed to support a wide range of assessment and development centre activities, providing a flexible platform for running both individual and group exercises. Here’s how SkillsPilot can be used in these contexts:

Assessment Centre Exercises

Participants complete skills assessments aligned to targeted organisational profiles, reflecting the skills and behaviours most valued for success.  Real-world scenarios and case studies can be integrated, allowing individuals to demonstrate their skills in action.

Feedback is gathered from multiple sources, including self-assessment and observer ratings, to provide a rounded view of performance.

Development Centre Activities

SkillsPilot enables participants to reflect on their experiences and describe how they have applied key skills in workplace situations.  Action planning tools help individuals set development goals based on assessment outcomes.

Feedback

SkillsPilot delivers feedback by enabling participants to learn how their applied skills have impacted outcomes in specific situations. The platform gathers input from both self-assessment and observer ratings, providing a well-rounded perspective on strengths and areas for development. This approach ensures that feedback is practical, evidence-based, and directly linked to real workplace experiences.

Observe & Provide Feedback

Facilitators and managers can use SkillsPilot to provide targeted, constructive feedback that supports ongoing growth. The feedback process encourages individuals to reflect on their behaviours, understand the impact of their actions, and set clear development goals for the future.

By making feedback accessible and actionable, SkillsPilot helps individuals and organisations drive meaningful development and build capability for long-term success.

About APS Coaching

Participant Experience

✅ Easy online access, works on desktop and laptop devices.

✅ Security encryption and confidentiality.

Due to the nature of the events and advanced online interactions tablet and mobile devices are not supported with this platform.

Set-up: This may vary according to the type of programme SkillsPilot is being used to deliver. Prior to an event participants are welcomed to the system by email.  After a short profile confirmation and agreement to terms and condition, participants are directed to their personal schedule/calendar page, where they can view all events they are registered to attend along with information outlining any prior preparation work needed.

Attending Events: Participants attend events by logging into the SkillsPilot workspace, where each session takes place. Events may be run as live webinars with multiple attendees, small group sessions, one-to-one meetings with an APS expert, or as self-directed activities.

During these sessions, participants might watch presentations, take part in discussions, complete tasks on their own or with others, or practise skills through structured exercises such as role play.

Feedback: SkillsPilot programmes can be configured to collect and compile specific types of feedback. For example, within certain Development Centre programmes, participants may be prompted to complete self-assessment at the end of each exercise. Where required, the same exercises can also be securely recorded within SkillsPilot, enabling either the organisation or an APS Observer to review activity and input their feedback. When observer feedback is collected for each exercise, SkillsPilot can then generate a participant report highlighting performance strengths and development recommendations.

Sample Reports

Reports typically generated from SkillsPilot events are a powerful way to share feedback with leaders.  This Development Centre sample report is available, demonstrating the structure and insights offered without any commitment.

Features :

The first section of the feedback report provides an overview of skill ratings based on observer feedback across all exercises. It helps individuals identify trends, strengths, and areas that may need extra attention. There is a focus on prioritising development actions based on whether a skill is underused or overused, using a clear rating scale. The summary allows the participant to quickly spot key behavioural competencies and performance patterns .

Each exercise is reviewed in detail, with specific feedback from both participants and observers. This includes context for each scenario, behaviours demonstrated, and actionable tips for improvement. Skills are scored individually, and any gaps between self-perception and observer feedback are highlighted, encouraging greater self-awareness and alignment between reputation and impact .

Skills are ranked from "missing" or underused to "exaggerated" or potentially overused, providing a behavioural strengths and development needs profile. This helps participants to focus on skills that require development and to moderate any that may be holding them back due to overuse. Extreme overuse is flagged, as it can have adverse effects on workplace relationships .

The final section of the report offers a structured template to create a personal development plan. Participants are encouraged to record specific behaviours to keep, start, or stop, ensuring that development goals are achievable and relevant to both current and future roles. It encourages ongoing tracking and reflection against individual objectives .
