Updated Hogan Subscales

Updated Hogan Subscales
Written by Melvyn Payne

Hogan Assessments ‘kaizen’ philosophy and continuous improvement approach to their tools ensures they remain relevant and at the cutting edge of measuring personality in the workplace.

Eighteen months ago we saw the introduction of normed subscales to the Hogan Development Survey which have proved a great success in supporting facilitators drawing out the nuances in an individual’s profile.

May 2016 sees the launch of another exciting development as normed subscales are extended to the Hogan Personality Inventory (HPI) and Motives, Values and Preferences Inventory (MVPI).  We’ve always had access to subscale information in the HPI but this new development helps to bring consistency across the scales and tools with facilitators quickly able to draw out a deeper understanding of an individual.

Reports are being updated the reflect the changes and a similar format to the, now familiar, ‘brick’ style of reporting launched in the HDS is being used across the suite representing low, low average, high average and high.  No longer having to decide what 2 out of 4 or 3 out of 6 means on a particular subscale means a coach can concentrate more time on real insight for their candidate.  The new style of reporting also allows for further developments to the questionnaires to be trialed and tested more easily to keep the tools at the forefront of the industry.

The changes are supported by background technical materials and a ten-minute e-learning module to ensure all existing practitioners can quickly become familiar with the new developments without the need for additional certification.

Our open certification programs already integrate the changes so that new practitioners are familiar with the format from launch and we are pleased that our advanced Hogan workshops will provide a platform for more experienced users to hone their interpretive skills using more complicated profiles and subscale combinations.

We’re proud to be able to announce this industry leading initiative and to support our clients as they integrate the improvements into their own businesses.
